Real Talk! I’ve been wanting it make homemade biscuits since moving to NOLA but I was way too intimidated to do so. You can probably guess the reason….I’m in NEW ORLEANS, home of the yummy food galore! But I took a leap of faith and trusted my hands and my ability to follow directions, i.e. a recipe. As I’ve mentioned in a previous post, biscuits can make or break a meal for me. So I made sure to take my time with each and every step. And they were super vegan and yummy!
Okay, I get it. Most nonvegans don’t like the taste of vegan anything. And yea, most recipes for vegan do taste differnt than the original, including this one. But just like most recipes, you have the power to make recipes your own and make them taste good.
The addition of the blueberry sauce was perfect with the biscuit. Don’t get me wrong, my biscuit-making skills are officially on point because they were moist AF. But the addition of the sauce on the biscuit paired with the savory grits made a perfect sweet & savory combo.
Sidenote: I have purposely avoided making grits in a few years
because I know I can’t make them the way my mom makes
them and that awareness kills me inside.
